Unique sailing training with RYA Instructor Trainer Helen Walker from 26th September to 3rd October 2025
This extended 7-day course (standard RYA courses are five days) offers a unique opportunity to train under the guidance of RYA Instructor Trainer Helen Walker. With two additional days beyond the usual format, you will have extra time to really consolidate your skills and gain deeper confidence in the core competencies. The course is suitable for RYA Competent Crew and Day Skipper candidates, or can be taken as an experience-building passage.
The RYA Competent Crew is the entry point for those beginning their sailing journey. It is suitable for complete beginners, those who have completed our Introduction to Yachting (Start Yachting) course, or sailors with dinghy experience.
The RYA Day Skipper level is for sailors ready to take charge of a yacht and crew. Successful candidates will be able to plan and complete short coastal passages by day in both tidal and non-tidal waters.
The course can also be taken as an experience-building opportunity. It is ideal for those preparing for their next RYA qualification, as well as qualified skippers and crew seeking to refresh their skills. Participants will gain sea miles and practise seamanship, navigation, and boat-handling while sailing in a small, supportive crew.
You will be part of a crew of five. Training will take place on board one of our fully coded and licensed cruising yachts. Life on board is shared between the skipper and crew, including cooking and domestic tasks, with the opportunity to use marina facilities in the evenings and mornings.
Alongside training, the course includes visits to harbours on the Clyde, anchorages in sheltered locations, and the chance to spend a night on a mooring buoy.
This is an excellent opportunity to sail, learn, and build confidence with one of the top RYA trainers in the UK. You will be sailing and training on board Bavaria 42 Clipperton.
The price is £795 and includes:
- 7 nights on board;
- All on board meals and snacks;
- Fuel and gas.
- All marina and harbour fees.
Optional extras:
- Oil skins hire - £3.50 per item/day;
- Cleaning fee £12.50/per person or the crew can clean the boat;
- Sleeping bag can be hired at just £25 per period.
