Amazing sailing expeditions all over the world from Arctic to Antarctic latitudes

World Sailing Expeditions with Go West

Go West Sailing offers a truly global suite of sailing adventures across both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, from high-latitude expeditions to classic ocean crossings and iconic rally passages. Each voyage is designed for sailors who cherish real sea time, purposeful navigation, and journeys that broaden both skills and horizons.

The 2026 and 2027 seasons are set to be true world sailing adventures, sailed aboard our two expedition yachts, Osprey and Mustamaija. From the Arctic waters of Greenland and Iceland to Cape Horn and Antarctica, and across the Atlantic and the equator between them, these voyages are designed for sailors who value proper passages, remote destinations and the quiet satisfaction of travelling under sail. Each journey offers time at sea, meaningful exploration and the kind of experience that stays with you long after landfall.

The adventures are sailed aboard our two expedition yachts, the Beneteau Oceanis 45 Osprey and the 19classic steel staysail schooner Mustamaija.

ARC, Atlantic Crossing and Classic Tradewind Routes

Cross the Atlantic on historic tradewind routes, from the British Virgin Islands to the Azores or onwards to the Caribbean via the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC). These passages are excellent for building offshore experience, logging ocean miles and working towards RYA qualifications such as Yachtmaster Ocean. Along the way you’ll sail steady winds and open seas with meaningful watchkeeping, navigation and seamanship under way.

The Azores and Subtropical Crossings

The Azores sit at the heart of some of the great Atlantic sailing routes. Cross the equator on the Salvador to Fernando de Noronha and Azores passage, then explore island cruising among volcanic landscapes. From there, sail the subtropical crossings northbound to Scotland, either from São Miguel to Largs or across the North Atlantic. These sailing adventures combine remarkable sailing conditions with varied weather systems that truly test and refine offshore skills.

Arctic and High-Latitude Adventures

Explore the far north, from Scotland to Iceland via remote St Kilda and on to East Greenland between Reykjavik and Kulusuk. Expect deep fjords, ice-studded shores and dramatic landscapes that few yachts ever see, with real polar navigation and rich opportunities for wildlife encounters.

Southern Extremes: Patagonia to Antarctica

Venture into the Southern Oceans from Ushuaia, round Cape Horn and sail on to Antarctica, or head north from Ushuaia to Brazil and sail the Brazilian coast to Salvador. These trips are among the most sought after in world sailing, combining rugged coastlines, challenging weather and awe-inspiring ice-scapes with authentic offshore sailing that builds capability and confidence under the toughest conditions.

Yachtmaster Ocean Qualifying Passages

Working towards your RYA Yachtmaster Ocean? The site lists Azores to Scotland and Salvador to Azores as Yachtmaster Ocean qualifying passages, giving you genuine ocean miles for your logbook.

What Makes Go West Different

Unlike adventure providers who operate small expedition-specific yachts, Go West Sailings’ approach blends rigorous RYA training, purposeful offshore passages and authentic destination exploration on well-equipped cruising yachts. Whether you are working towards qualifications or seeking true passage-making experiences, our skippers bring decades of offshore experience — from polar seas to tradewind oceans — and will support you throughout.

Each adventure is all-inclusive, with meals, fuel, harbour fees and onboard guidance included as standard. Optional extras are minimal and transparent, so you can focus purely on the sailing, stories and sea time that matter.
